We have had Physician Assistants working here since 2015.
They are healthcare workers with special training. They work with doctors in hospitals or at GP surgeries. They see patients for suitable problems and can help with working out what might be wrong (diagnosis). They can send you to another specialist if needed and can ask for tests.
They know about medicines but don’t write prescriptions. They do not have their own list of patients. They help manage your illness and help the surgery with some medical office tasks.
When a Physician Assistant is working, a GP is there to: Help with medical questions Sign prescriptions. Discuss patient appointments.
