What is protected learning time?
Protected learning for GP surgeries has been available for many years. These training days are required by the NHS. Frimley Integrated Care Board (ICB) sets the dates for our region and helps organise clinical and non-clinical training.
We use this time to deliver staff training for all and these sessions can happen onsite, offsite or online. Usually it includes group sessions for GPs, nurses and other clinical staff. Administrative staff have protected learning at the same time.
On training days, morning appointments will be open as normal but the practice will be closed from 12.30 pm.
For urgent medical issues that cannot wait until the surgery reopens, the 111 telephone service supports us by providing medical advice and a GP if required.
